Diary of our COVID 19 Lockdown | March 2021

Last year in March I decided to do a Lockdown Diary, these were weekly but with the return to a bit more normality, kids back to school everything starting to open, I moved it to Monthly and with us still in Lockdown each month was continuing through our journeys. March Madness! time, a time of school returns more lockdown easing mindset, Half term, and easter approaches.

Funk

I’ll be honest, I’m still in a bit of a funk like the last couple of months and what makes things a little worse is I was ill towards the end of the month, even with the masks and limited interaction I still managed to pick up a cold\flu, I felt so rough I actually had a COVID test, the full-blown one, and for me this actually the first one I’ve had.

I drove to a drive-through one which at this point is empty and quiet as that initial rush over, and if you keep on top of the numbers it’s definitely much quieter with results etc, so for me, it was weird to be in a giant car park with tents, signs, cones etc and a host of staff, and then there’s me in a car, all a bit awkward. Luckily for me, it came back negative, I did offer to have Roo test kit as she has loads for school but Boo wouldn’t allow me lol.

Back to school

Officially the kids went back to school, though due to keyworkers Tigger and Piglet were already there but Roo was finally back! out of all of the kids, she has spent the least amount of time at school over the last year, even though there was a tinge of nervousness and worry, and obviously that teenager school reluctancy, deep down she was keen to see her friends and get back into that rhythm.

Even though she would love to be at home relaxing watching TV, as for the other two march was just a normal month now, play, school, eat, sleep, repeat but they were being very good about it all.

The rest of the month in reality was abit of a dull one, however, Mothers day came and went which was nice for us to sit down as a family but no really big celebration, for obvious reasons. Even though there’s more optimism around now as the numbers look good, the right numbers are going down and more and more of the county gets there Jab, there wasn’t too much happening.

But there’s a lot of talk about the next few months and we have also started preliminary planning on what the rest of the year looks like, both Boo and I have been busy at work, so we juggle lots to try and keep us balanced, especially Boo.

But I would be nice to think that the rest of the year might turn more normal for work and money and thus activities for the kids etc can come back around, they have had a tough year and just got on with it, so it would be nice to do some nice things for them.

Coming up

With Easter holidays starting and Easter around the corner how was April shaping up? well last year if you remember it all fell apart and just floated away in lockdown, and with March celebrating 1 full year of the new norm, could April be better? will it look brighter? the weather is turning, things are potentially easing, April could be a big month for the country.
