Diary From a Dad, I look at what happened in our family life as each month goes by, with School, Work, outings, and general family life many challenges face us, but how do we get through the month and what happens? It’s Christmas!!!! It is that time of year where we celebrate fun and family and all things Christmasy and with it still being busy until the last minute it doesn’t get away from being our favourite time of the year

Christmas Show
Normally this time of year we have dotted activities around the month that we try to slot in, one of those is a regular trip to the Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth, as I’ve mentioned before they do themed shows throughout the year and to be honest there normally good, the fact that even though they do a Xmas or Halloween one every year for example, the story around the show and the performers actually change, so essentially its always different with the odd family favourite skit.
Lads day out
I managed to do afternoon/evening out with friends, we used to do a yearly outing around Christmas but with Covid etc, and people’s time being less and less, it’s become more of a challenge, and to be honest, we all getting older. This time we went to Norwich City and did a variety of different activities including an Escape room, indoor golf (Japanese-themed), and a retro arcade center. In retrospect we should have done a longer day as there were more activities that we wanted to fit in, personally, i think we’ve come to the end of going out on an evening food, drink, bars and clubs and getting drunk, that lifestyle is over.
Busy time at Xmas
We’ve all been busy, Roo managed to get a temp job at Tesco which was great for her development in life and the money that she wanted lol, but with the school was busy, Boo was finishing up with her temporary job while doing her normal job. The younger two were busy at school and in retail I was busy, so with the arrival of Christmas everyone was off, Roo had a couple of shifts while I also had a limited amount of shifts, which as unusual for me but I wasn’t complaining. This allowed us to spend a big chunk of Christmas together in the house.
The Big Day
As for the big day, a lot of prep work is done throughout the year with presents etc.. especially from Boo, the house was decorated and actually, we had been a little conservative this year, we didn’t add much and reduced down the outside display. With the Food Roo and I plan a lot and of course, I do a lot of the cooking, this year it went very well, a bargain bonanza at M&S on Xmas ever helped massively while the Xmas day food went well. Boxing day party food and snacks throughout the period really rounded out the success of Xmas food.
New year
With new year around the corner lets see what this year brings, its been tough last few years with something every year so really could do with a good year, thankful for my family but we could do with a little bit of luck.
