You can often buy hampers ready-made but it can be a lot more personal to create your own hamper. Take a look at this article on how to create the perfect hamper for your mum this Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and often we can wonder what to get our beloved mothers to show them that we care. Traditionally a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates would always go down a treat, not forgetting the all-important card. But it seems there is much more pressure to deliver on the present front as each year passes, and when there is nothing glaringly obvious to get your mum what do you do? This is where a hamper can be the ideal option.

A hamper is something that is filled with lots of different goodies. They can have a theme or just be filled with lots of different things you know they will love. You can often buy hampers ready-made but it can be a lot more personal to create your own hamper. So I thought I would share with you how to create the perfect hamper for your mum this Mother’s Day.

How to get started

One of the first things you need to do is get everything that you need to get started in creating your hamper for mother’s day. Here are some of the things that you need to consider.

A decent-sized box or basket

Firstly, you need something to put everything in. A basket is usually a great choice as it can also be a part of the hamper that can be re-used. A wicker basket that is large enough to hold various different things. If you don’t want to use a basket you can use a box and either wrap it up to make it look pretty or buy one in a particular colour.

Decorations

You might want to think about decorations to go with your hamper. Ribbons around the box or basket, shredded colour tissues paper inside to cover the bottom, and perhaps even a clear plastic wrap to go over the top that can then be tied neatly with a ribbon.

Ideas on what to put inside

Now that you have got the base ready for your hamper, you need to start thinking about the things that you want to add. You can choose just to add them as they are or individually wrap things so that it adds as extra little gifts and gives the element of surprise. Here are a few ideas on what to put inside.

Chocolates

One of the obvious things that you can include would be chocolates. Adding chocolate to the hamper will always be well received. Either add a few bars of their favourite or add a box of chocolates

Flowers

Another lovely option to consider would be flowers. You could add a small artificial bunch of flowers inside or accompany your hamper with a bouquet of her favourites.

Skincare

Adding a few items for self-care will always be a great option. Face masks, a few treats from their favourite skincare brand, and other little indulgent treats like eye masks could be a great option. Mother’s Day is all about giving your mum a chance to switch off, so they could even use some of these products on the day.

Drinks

You could include a bottle of their favourite drink. Some gin, wine, a cocktail mix, or even their favourite non-alcoholic drinks. You could also add a personalised glass to give it that extra special feel.

Candles

Who doesn’t love a candle? This can be an excellent addition to a hamper. You can have candles personalised, pick out their favourite brand, or just find a cute small business that showcases some of their favourite scents. If they are not a fan of candles you could look at a wax burner and some wax melts.

Pyjamas or loungewear

Another brilliant addition to a hamper is to add some pyjamas or loungewear to the hamper. As mums, or knowing our own mums, we don’t tend to treat ourselves to things like this so they can be a great gift as part of a hamper.

Slippers

Additionally to the pyjamas and loungewear, you could add a new pair of slippers. Again it may sound like a small purchase but they are often the thing that mothers don’t usually treat themselves to.

Books

If they are a fan of books you could also add a book to the hamper. This will encourage the theme of self-care and taking time for themselves. If they are not an avid reader you could include a cookbook, guide, or a book teaching something they have been looking at learning.

Hopefully, this guide will help you to create the perfect hamper for your mum this Mother’s Day.
