Hatchimals | How to Train Your Dragon

From Dreamworks highly successful How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, comes an Exclusive line of toys featuring characters directly from the world of Dragons. Relieve all the magic of Dreamworks Dragons with these exciting Hatchimals. How to train your dragon’s franchise began in film in 2010, and loosely based on the book, since then it spawned 2 more films, including this one, and TV series, with voice actors such as Jay Barychel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Tj Miller, Kristan Wig and many others through the years.

The kids have watched all of the Films, the TV series and even own the games, with all three through the years enjoying these and toys at some point, Tigger and I love Dragons anyway, let alone his enjoyment of these films etc.. Roo has had Hatchimals on and off for a little while now, though perhaps shes now at that age where she doesn’t, however, she definitely got involved in this one, but it made a refreshing change for Hatchimals to be catered for unisex kids, and no inherently aimed more at girls, if we are being honest.

“Hatch and Train your very own baby dragon Toothless! Your favourite dragon from How to Train your Dragon: The Hidden World comes to life with light-up eyes, movement and interactive sounds! Become the best of friends with Hatching Toothless as yo teach him how to fly and plasma blast, feed him and play games with Him! To encourage baby Toothless to hatch, rock his egg back and forth to hear him growl; tap to hear him tap back/and shake and tilt the egg to get him aggravated – once he’s agitated enough, he’ll be ready to hatch!”

Hands on

We attended an event at the Rainforest Cafe in London to get hands-on with one of these new hatchimals, it was down to the kids to hatch our one, so we followed the instructions of interacting with the egg, and low and behold after some time it began to hatch! Piglet was so excited as she had never done anything like the before. In reality, it was relatively easy to do, but wit the noises etc it was great interaction, and depending on your child they could find even this part really enjoyable.

Once outside the egg, the fun continues as Tigger and piglet were trying to teach our little Toothless his abilities, we placed our hands on his head, as a bond motion, we taught him how to flap his wings and let out a roar, but the best part was holding his belly and getting him to do a plasma blast! with his eyes lighting up etc, it was pretty cool and the kids loved it.

Toothless also comes with a fish, which allows you to again interact with him, this feeds him when he becomes hungry, kids loved this and found this enjoyable, Toothless also has some games like a hot potato to add a little difference to the toy, but he does move his wings and has movement and lights that is enjoyable anyway.

Overall

Overall it’s a great toy, if you have owned a hatchimal before then this is more of the same but has some great interaction, but if you are a fan of the franchise its still fantastic, my kiddies enjoy the toy anyway let alone the interaction, which keeps you entertained, he fish is small so be careful not to lose it, but with so many toys etc based on the franchise this is arguably the best.
