Last year in March I decided to do a Lockdown Diary, these were weekly but with the return to a bit more normality, kids back to school everything starting to open, I moved it to Monthly, and with us still in Lockdown each month was continuing through our journeys. This month was July! and it was time for the summer holidays! you could argue it was the beginning of more normal times with the recent relaxing, however, the month also saw a spike in numbers that threatened to derail everything again.

Schools out
It was the end of the school year! it was weird to think that another year was done, with all that’s happened over the last 18 months the school year has just been ticking by, Roo was now in the final stretch with just two years left and all the work towards her GCSE’s, Piglet had completed her reception year, and Tigger was now approaching his final year before heading off to High school! it makes you feel old lol, but it gives you that sense of reality that the next couple of years is very important for their schooling.
As for Boo and I, we are now getting into a rhythm, my shifts are becoming set again after a long debate and now trying to fit around the kids better, it felt like an age to get back to this after sorting it all out before lockdown. As for Boo she’s getting into the rhythm of balancing her work in the NHS, with blog work, and in which fitting us and both of us sharing the childcare, in and around all of this.
Roo on Crutches
Roo is unfortunately still on crutches, and what’s more frustrating for her and us is that we are no further along, we are still waiting for the first MRI results, it has been about 6 weeks since the scan and 8 since the injury, and we are still at a pause. Being potential ligament damage around the knee we cant do physio, or anything because we don’t know what’s wrong, you can tell with Roo that this is beginning to get to her. We have had to delay or cancel a few things because she couldn’t really do it, she says she in alot of pain and we don’t want to add to it or make it worse.
On the plus side as we head into the summer holidays we do have some stuff planned, perhaps not what we envisioned but it’s at least something. We started though with a trip out to the cinema and restaurant, something we haven’t done as a family for a long time, it may have been something small but it was to do.
Onto the Summer Holidays
August hopefully sees us to alot more but with Roo we are still a little restricted, it may be a low-key summer compared to normal but with what’s happening in the world ultimately it’s still a cautious time. Both Boo and I received our second Jab so atleast we feel far more confident in things, and as the delay in the lockdown came and went, we still have mixed emotions about how people are now acting, but that’s a story for another day…but at least more things are open and there’s more optimism.
