Diary of our COVID 19 Lockdown | October 21

Last year in March I decided to do a Lockdown Diary, these were weekly but with the return to a bit more normality, kids back to school everything starting to open, I moved it to Monthly, and with us still, in and out of Lockdown each month was continuing through our journeys. It was October, normally a big month for us with Half term and Halloween which is one of our favourite times of the years, it was arguably the month where we were much more back to normality even if the country is up and down.

Back to Normal

Largely this month saw us getting back to normality, and it really was with much of the month having the kids at school more regularly and Boo and I at work, we were getting back into a rhythm from quite a while ago. It was weird to think and to even suggest with lots of issues in the country still, but for us with Work, blog, school, events etc all just seemingly seemed more positive. With this all happening we were looking to plan half-term a lot more and decided to do some sorting out within the house, which will no doubt go into November with some tweaks in each room.

Halloween this year was an odd one, with it being the end of Half-term we had some events planned that week, and with Boo Partly working that week as well we only opted for a small little indoor Halloween display. If you have read my previous Halloween blogs I do a special post and we go all out, but last year was a whitewash for obvious reasons, so this year for many it was back on, however for us it didn’t feel right doing a big thing or doing a post, we weren’t really home and would be celebrating Halloween differently this year.

Some Halloween visits

We visited Alton Towers earlier in the week as they celebrated their Scarefest, we don’t get to visit often due to the location and where we live, so its normally once a year type visit, and it being Halloween was a rare thing for us, it was a busy day and for the older kids it was harder due to the pure amount of teens and adults, all of there rides and activities were busy and they didn’t get as much done as they would like.

Piglet though was fine as her rides were much quieter. We managed to also visit a local attraction Wroxham barns and the kids each got a pumpkin, we choose and carved them there which was great for them to do as we hadn’t done it for a couple of years.

Earlier in the month we visited Legoland in Windsor, they too were celebrating Halloween and with the younger too dressing up, it was a great day out for us all as we are big Lego fans. Over the Halloween weekend, we visited Chessington, Chessington was much the same in they had their own Halloween special, for us its probably the best all-round theme park for us and is often a good day out, again alot of Halloween fun was happening. We took a trip to Birmingham on the way home to visit Cadbury World, Legoland Discovery, and Sealife center, all places we haven’t been to for a long while.

Onto the next

Overall it was a good month, a back to normal month with some great family days out, next two months are s busy with birthdays and Xmas, yet it was nice to be in this time of year, it’s my favourite, and I’m lucky to have my family.
