Diary From A Dad / June 2024

Diary From a Dad, I look at what happened in our family life as each month goes by, with School, Work, outings, and general family life many challenges face us, but how do we get through the month and what happens? June was the month just before the summer holidays and the last real month of school etc and head down work, but with fathers day as well and a surprisingly wet June let’s look and how we got on.

With Tigger and Piglet at school their month was pretty standard, obviously, things are slowing down a bit, Piglet had her sports day and this year it fell on a day I was at work and more so in the morning which is where I am more busy, last year I stood out in a field for nearly 4 hours in the baking sun, this year it would be Boo.

In the last couple of years Boo and Roo have managed to go to London a few times for theatre shows, a mixed bag of work-related ones as well as them buying their own tickets etc, whereas I’m not the biggest fan of theatre compared to Cinema…they are, so this month saw them visit Heathers the musical.

As for Roo, she was notably doing less in her final few weeks, the School that has the Sixth form in was doing their annual summer show, over the years I’ve detailed that she had been in it etc, but as time has gone on and perhaps not suited to her skills, she has moved on to more of the organising and running of the show type roles, which is far more suited to her.

Father’s Day

It was Father’s Day! a trip to Pizza Hut for the family as it’s their choice while a day generally spent with the family was great, I was spoilt with a selection of great gifts from the family including Manscape products and different Rums etc. I’m not a huge drinker but I do like Rum, Dead Mans Fingers is the rum of my choice especially with their flavours etc.

As I mentioned before we worked on the Garden out the front of the house, there were two rectangle areas in front of the windows that flanked the main doorway, their previous owners had something there but taking it out or changing something, it left a mixture of grass and weeds, more weeds than grass… so after our cleaning up and sorting the area we installed woodchip and 5 bushes, along with a flowerbed in front, the bushes long term will grow and fill this area better as it being so close to the house its going to be a dead area for anything else.

Next Month

Next month see the end of the school year! weird to think… and the summer holidays begin, we surprisingly have a trip away at the end of the month which is something to look forward to.
