Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?

As any parent knows the joy of TV shows and Films, and some books, toys and puzzles get seen a lot in the household. Don’t get me wrong some can be excellent and can bring joy to your heart, some can give you great memories and make your day. Some though, and even the best ones, can let’s say “get on your nerves” or go past the joy and delight to pure annoyance. Some are great! but as parents when you have watched something a million times it gets a bit… well you know.

Now some brands etc have been around our household for quite a while, and even with everything I’ve said they have continued through those years from one child to the next Scooby-Doo is one of those that have gone through each child. As the kids have got older and each new child appeared the Films and shows continued in their different incarnations. For me obviously, they have been around for many years, before I was even born etc, they were old then, but to be fair to the Scooby-Doo franchise it’s been kind of timeless.

Familiarity of characters

The same characters, the general same stories, have all been around for ages. The cartoons with short stories, feature lengths films like shows, too series are essentially been the same theme and concept. this isn’t a knock on it, the consistency is part of its appeal and for our kids and probably most easier to be familiar with it. For kids, though it is very useful as they would have toys, books, puzzles etc and they essentially are all the same, so they can relate to it.

I appreciate back in the day people will argue that it was great and that cartoon area with The Flintstones, Hanna-Barbara etc were all very popular, but personally the quality of the show and the live-action films were better, and the kids have enjoyed them also. The two live-action films will often get watched if they are on, I think Roo and Tigger appreciate them more as they were growing up at that age. But for Tigger and Piglet, they watch the cartoons as they have seen them more, Tigger to be honest of all the kids have watched them all the most and probably the most affiliated with it the show.

Scooby-Doo – One for all the family

Ultimately Scooby-Doo is one of those that we have all watched at one point, and it’s been around so long that we have grown up on them, and will have watched either a Show, Film or feature-length. We have all got our favourite characters and kids are no different, whether it’s Roo and Daphnee, or with Tigger and piglet liking Shaggy and Scooby, everyone enjoys it. With new incarnations for the new generation it’s no doubt still going to be around for some time and why not, its great and one of the kid’s favourites.
