Paw Patrol

We have owned a few Paw Patrol games now as all three kids have grown up watching Paw Patrol at some point, Piglet still regularly plays with her toys and enjoyed the last game out based on the movie. However, she enjoys games like Mario Kart or Ryans’ world racing but was obviously looking forward to this.

What they say

“Join Ryder, Chase, and the rest of the PAW Patrol on their fastest mission yet–to win the Pup Cup! Players will be able to speed their way around 11 tracks in Adventure Bay, Jake’s Snowboarding Resort, the Jungle and more to find out who’s the quickest racer of them all. But watch out for Mayor Humdinger, he could be just around the corner in his blimp to cause all kinds of mayhem on the track!”

“As well as being the first ever PAW Patrol game kart racer, PAW Patrol: Grand Prix is the first PAW Patrol multiplayer video game that allows up to 4-players at once, letting the whole family play together via split screen. Race to become a champion using power-ups and boosts like water balloons, snowballs and confetti blasts. More experienced track stars will be able to play on hard mode, while younger players can use easy control options with auto-acceleration to guide them to the finish line.”

“No track is too big, no racer too small! The PAW Patrol are on their fastest mission yet – To win the Pup Cup! Race around iconic locations including Adventure Bay, Jake’s Snowboarding Resort and The Jungle in this 4-player-championship to find out who will be crowned the winner.”

What we say

Outright games have a good history of being quite easy to get to grips with lots of on-screen help from characters’ voices or visuals, and this is no different. Choosing options for the race for example you can do a tutorial, but in reality, its what you expect, steer, button to go, button break, button to use your special you pick up, and button to reset on track. The starter is a little different where you leave your engine by pressing the button in the yellow zone, this allows you to start the best.

Choosing one of the many characters in the franchise now, you can race against them and visually these look great, for a child they would thoroughly enjoy it. Largely down to the interaction with the characters and voices, but having their vehicles and understanding what your doing against them is great. As I said you can pick up specials from around the map, and you can also collect treats for score etc, but the specials could turn the tide.

Outright Games

Outright Games, one of the leading global publishers of family-friendly interactive entertainment, in affiliation with Paramount Consumer Products, Nickelodeon and Spin Master Ltd., a leading global children’s toy and entertainment company and the creators of PAW Patrol, have today released PAW Patrol: Grand Prix. Developed by 3D Clouds, this first-ever kart racer and four player PAW Patrol video game will give players the opportunity to dash around their favourite locations from the smash hit TV show in a bid to win the Pup Cup. PAW Patrol: Grand Prix is available now on PlayStation 4®, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch™, Xbox One, Xbox X|S and Steam.

Overall

Let’s be honest, it’s not reinventing the formula with these style racers, and that’s no knock on this or any other game, done well?, they are ever popular and very enjoyable to play. This is no different with this game, having the characters and their cars, along with voices from Ryder etc and co, is awesome for the kids they will feel at ease straight away. As ever for really young kids racing games can be a little tricky, and in the beginning, a little help and guidance would be great, the circuits are also great and fit in graphically with this and the other Outright Paw patrol games.

For fans of the franchise, this is another must-have and for someone like piglet who is 6, this is bang on her skill level and enjoyment, being a racing game compared to an adventure game you could older kids still engaged, but in reality, if the child is into Paw Patrol and similar franchises then they will love it.
